Zero emissions target for the group

As one of Australia's largest not-for-profit community service providers, Uniting Vic.Tas has been delivering aged care, disability services, early learning, and community support across Victoria and Tasmania for over 40 years - touching the lives of tens of thousands of Australians every year.

But managing energy across hundreds of diverse sites is incredibly complex.

Uniting faced 3 main challenges:

Fragmented data across a diverse portfolio. With aged care facilities, retirement villages, community hubs, early learning centres, and offices all on different retailers and tariff types, consolidating energy data for reporting was a manual, time-intensive process—especially for solar performance monitoring and carbon accounting.

Unclear performance and ROI on solar installations. As a mission-driven organisation, every dollar saved on energy is a dollar that can go back into community services. But with dozens of solar systems, all with different inverter brands, keeping on top of contract renewals, price changes, and billing errors was pulling focus from core work. And it was unclear what kind of return they can expect by expanding their solar footprint to reduce costs and emissions.

Emissions reporting under increasing scrutiny With growing stakeholder expectations around sustainability and upcoming mandatory climate disclosures, Uniting needed a reliable, auditable system to track and report Scope 2 emissions across all sites.

The Challenge: Consolidate solar performance data with billing to accurately calculate return and performance, while staying on the lowest prices.

Reduce energy costs to reinvest in mission

  • Operations needs visibility over energy spend to identify savings opportunities and keep site budgets on track.

Consolidate solar and battery performance

  • The sustainability team needs to understand how rooftop solar assets are performing across sites, easily calculate return, and identify underperforming systems.

Source of truth for bills, budgets and compliance

  • Finance needs one source of truth  to reconcile energy invoices, track payments, and report on actuals vs. budget without chasing data from multiple sources.

Automate emissions tracking and export

  • Sustainability needs to automatically capture and export emissions data for annual reporting and AASB S2 compliance without manual uploading.

Results: Track energy data and emissions while freeing up resources.

Termina automatically extracts energy data across electricity, gas, and embedded networks every month into a single platform, giving Uniting a complete view of consumption, costs, and carbon.

All of Uniting's energy data consolidated in one place, with procurement support delivering an 8.2% reduction in electricity costs across the portfolio.

What's Next: Align energy strategy with net zero commitments.

Termina will work with Uniting and leverage the data to identify the highest ROI sites for solar investment to further reduce costs while reducing emissions.

By the way we are very happy with the product, the visibility is so good, the leadership team is already talking about it.
